Patricia Inspired

Filed under: Graphic Images — DonnaB at 10:14 pm on Sunday, October 26, 2008

I had a good time, creatively speaking, last week. I actually posted four images from the odd shape Patricia challenged us with. I shared the first in the previous post, here are the remaining three. I thought the challenge shape might be what a broken window and screen would look like. The pendant is just more of my favorite pastime of creating virtual jewelry. The deer scene is a work in progress and one I’m not sure I will ever call done, but I’m liking it so far.

Creative Streak

I made this week’s challenge from Patricia aka Columbine fit in with my lovely witch I had already been working on. Here’s what I said when I posted her to my favorite hangout:

“Ok, I admit I’ve worked on the majority of this image off and on for a couple of weeks now. The layout is based on this tutorial although I couldn’t begin to make all aspects of this image without a plugin or two. Alien Skin’s Xenofex 2 Lightning, Alien Skin’s Fur Effect on portions of her hair and Mura’s Cloud filter as well as many layers and painting effects. Her necklace is a part of a recent challenge.

Remember when I was proud of creating the girl’s face by following Christina Gibbs’ tutorial a couple of weeks back? I’ve been practicing since then and once I had this lovely girl’s face, I needed to give her a body without having to actually create her hands, legs, feet, etc. That’s when I went looking for a witch tutorial (since it is the season) thinking about a long gown and/or cape.

Thanks for taking a peek, I’m very proud of this image as most of you know I can’t do this naturally, but I can look at an image and try to imitate portions of it.

By the way. the bat is a newly discovered species called “Columbine”.

Disclaimer: No plugins were used to enhance her cleavage… twas only Paint Shop Pro and Paint Shop Pro alone!”

I’m trying to learn to create people and especially trying to learn to make their faces whether they are cartoonish or leaning towards a bit more realism. This little guy was the second image I submitted for Challenge 313 and his face and shoes were created by following one of Christina Gibbs’ tutorials. The rest of the image is my idea along with some of my own things and a couple of borrowed things that are furnished within Paint Shop Pro; namely the grass and the football.

The little girl’s face in the post below was also accomplished by following one of Christina’s tutorials.

Challenge 313 is from our friend mezam and she said: “This image is of 500 by 600 pixels. You can reduce it to 80%! Not under! It contains 6 layers. The cloud layers, a and b can be moved, decreased, deformed. The character must remain with this size, but you can rearrange the arms and legs. Dress and fill out this character. Obviously, all must be coloured and textured!!!!! You can add other elements by adding layers to fill the scene. At the end merge your image to one layer and use some sort of filter/artistic effect, etc. on it and when you post tell us what filter you used on it.”

Our PlusPSP challenger this week was Lee1990 and he said: “You must use at least one of the shapes in an Autumn-related image, since this will be the first week of Autumn.”

Trophy Week

The Challenger for 311 was CarolUK and her instructions were to “Create a trophy. It can be an award for anything you like, but it must show what it was for, either in the form of the trophy or in an inscription on it. Be as off the wall as you like in conjuring up things which might get a trophy.”

Challenge 309 is the crown that I duplicated and made into the candle holder. We were to use the crown and have pink or shades of pink in the finished images. Many of the “things” in the image were previous challenges.

Puzzle Challenge

Filed under: Graphic Images — DonnaB at 9:27 pm on Saturday, September 6, 2008

Thank goodness! I am happy to report I’ve finally felt a creative streak emerge after this long dry spell of barely participating with my favorite group. I can get lost in these things. Seriously, I stayed up one night this week until nearly 1 a.m. playing before I realized how late it was getting.

We were furnished with puzzle pieces we could use in any way we wished. I created an egg stand and then made a puzzle for the second image for Challenge 308.
