What in the world has the attention of these beasts? Whatever it is, they are intent on figuring it out.

Idol Surprise, Take Two

Filed under: That random stuff — DonnaB at 8:40 pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Wow! Kris really stepped up and so did his fans. He is IN the top two! I was as surprised as he was since the predictions all along have been for Danny and Adam to battle it out for the title. I hope Danny’s dreams continue to come true.

Idol Surprise

Wow! Kris stepped up tonight after thinking he would be leaving last week. He simply had that look of defeat and when Allison was voted off, I do believe the young man decided he could stay and compete! I loved his performances tonight, in fact, the best I’ve heard from him all season. I’m going to be happy no matter who wins of this final three.

Rain Anyone?

Filed under: Photos — DonnaB at 9:09 pm on Monday, May 11, 2009

We have had an abundant amount of rain in this area. So much, in fact, that all of the pools, ponds, lakes, rivers and creeks are full to the brim. But, I’m not complaining… no, not me! I vowed never to moan again about the wonderful, wet stuff (remember the two summers we watered cattle?). However, I would appreciate it if you complain for me, how’s that?

The creek out at the farm where Ed grew up is pictured below. Normally, it looks like this photo taken back in the winter; calm, rocky and only ankle to knee deep. This afternoon, it was flying under the bridge I was standing on to take the picture and was probably waist to neck deep or deeper.

Update to a “A Little News Story”

So the baby’s Momma tells me she did alright wearing the graduation cap and holding a diploma. They will cut her out of the photo they took and place her on a stage with a caption similar to “starting her out right for success”. I still don’t know if this is a newspaper ad or exactly where this is to be printed or featured. I can’t wait to see it though! Maybe I can share it in some way, if not on here, then through an email.

A Little News Story

The baby girl I’ve been keeping since last November had her photo taken today in her “Huggies” diaper with a graduation cap on and is supposed to represent Kimberly-Clark in some way. The parents were to find out today just what it was all about, but I haven’t heard yet. I hope they were successful in keeping the cap on her head. She’s at an age (nearly a year old) where nothing and I mean NOTHING is supposed to be on her head, but her hair! :)

Idol Thoughts and The Lack of Downed Tree Pictures

Filed under: That random stuff — DonnaB at 9:15 pm on Thursday, May 7, 2009

I was very surprised when Allison was booted from the show although she had been in the bottom three several times. I like the girl and think she will have a career in the music industry without winning the title of American Idol. Just look what Chris Daughtry has done.

On the lost tree news and Denise asking about pictures; yes, I have some, and I’ll try to find one before the tree fell, post one during the cleanup process and then I’ll have to take the after. I’ll put that on my already long list of things I procrastinate about! ;)

Thanks for commenting, y’all!

A Near Disaster

Filed under: That random stuff — DonnaB at 9:26 pm on Wednesday, May 6, 2009

At around 6 a.m. this morning, I sat straight up in bed and determined it was time to throw my clothes on and be ready… for… I wasn’t sure! I just knew I didn’t want to be half-naked at the moment cause the wind was fierce! Ed was already up for he is an early riser and when he realized I was awake, let me know we had lost a tree. From what we could tell in the darkness, it was across the road in front of our home. The lightning was just plain scary, but in those moments when it was illuminating the neighborhood, we could see the damage and the tree that had gone down. While we were deciding who to call, a car approached and we quickly saw that it could indeed pass. At least one lane was open to the traffic. The Department of Transportation arrived shortly after we called our friend who in turn called her husband who is an employee with the D. O. T. Ed and our neighbor started cutting the tree and a big limb from another one to get them off the road. Ed’s brother also arrived and within a matter of minutes, the road was clear and the D. O. T. employee let us know they would carry off the debris. What a relief that was! Especially to those guys’ backs!

Let me tell you, as far as I can remember, that is the second time in my life I’ve ever and I mean EVER jumped out of bed and gotten dressed in record time. The other instance before this morning was in the midst of an ice storm during the days before satellite television. Our antenna iced over and the weight made the pole supporting it bend in half and come crashing down on our roof…. right over our bedroom! Needless to say, that was a rude awakening!

Here’s hoping you all were safe and I am never again alarmed enough by the weather to get dressed before daylight! Because that, my friends and family, is not something I normally do… for anyone or anything! It is quite alarming how ol’ Mother Nature can change your mind!

Whole Lotta Love

Filed under: That random stuff — DonnaB at 9:50 pm on Tuesday, May 5, 2009

I was a teenager and a young adult in the 70’s and 80’s. Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” was and still is a favorite song from that time period. American Idol’s Adam Lambert IS a rock star… and that’s all I’ve got to say about that!

A note to my Aunt Mary, you won’t like it, so don’t waste your time. ;)
