Tiny Bird Feeder

Filed under: Graphic Images — DonnaB at 8:19 pm on Tuesday, February 19, 2008

I’m this week’s challenger and this is the shape I submitted with instructions it had to be recognizable in the end result.

Challenge 281

I created the feeder, the background is several layers of pattern fills from grsites.com. The hummingbird is a Paint Shop Pro tube, not my creation. The “twine” or rope holding the feeder is also a tube.

Beautiful, Glorious Day

Filed under: That random stuff — DonnaB at 9:58 pm on Monday, February 18, 2008

The weather was perfect today after several days of cloudy and rainy. I finally walked this afternoon and I was very glad to be out in the wonderful sunshine!

I was looking through my hard drive tonight at pictures taken this time last year. We had come through the couple of years of drought and the pictures taken then were still stark! No early grasses coming up… nothing! What a difference a year has made! The cattle are already leaving the hay and grazing and that’s a very good thing! Nothing much there to fill them up, but they seem to be happy walking and looking.

I’m very ready for spring although this winter has not been bad at all. I hate to say that, for I might jinx us since February is far from over.

I’m about to call it a night, hope your day has been as good as mine!

Armadillo Moves

Filed under: Photos — DonnaB at 9:46 pm on Sunday, February 17, 2008

As Ed and I were traveling to our north pasture this afternoon, we spotted movement just past a concrete bridge on the gravel road leading to our place. Once we got closer, we could see it was an armadillo acting strangely, although how could we accurately describe their behavior since we rarely see them!

When we were close enough to take pictures, both of us exited the truck. We initially thought it was eating, but we finally figured out it was scratching leaves, dirt and twigs into a pile under its belly and rolling the pile towards the ditch…. backwards! When it disappeared under some long ago spilled concrete, I made my way down into the ditch to have a better look. This critter was obviously using the ball of material for bedding for its home. It had escaped underneath the edge of the concrete and once it finally figured out it wasn’t alone, disappeared into the depths of the burrow. What a treat to see how these creatures act!

I Need a Life!

Filed under: Graphic Images — DonnaB at 10:32 pm on Friday, February 15, 2008

I have way too much time invested this week in my Paint Shop program. And just think the challenge week doesn’t close until Sunday afternoon. It’s possible to create even more images! Help! :)

I wanted to create the whole airplane, but the propeller and part of one engine will just have to do.

Sweet Teddy Bears… oops, I mean Baby Calves

Filed under: Photos — DonnaB at 8:37 pm on Monday, February 11, 2008

It’s that time of year again… new babies, green grass and perennial flowers emerging from the ground. What with the spring like temperatures of the last few days, it’s no wonder I’m thinking and talking of spring. Crazy thing though… it ain’t spring! I’m not going to hold my breath while wishing the last of our cold weather to be gone this early in the year. I’ll just take one day at a time and enjoy what Ma Nature has in store for us. These sweet looking babies are simply a bonus to go along with the great weather.

Neighbor’s Pup

Filed under: Graphic Images — DonnaB at 9:37 pm on Sunday, February 10, 2008

The neighbor up the street has a mama dog with several puppies. This one came visiting yesterday to help himself to a bit of dog food. I suppose it’s alright since Banjo looks to be the Dad. We must support his kids, don’tcha know! :)

The photo was a bit blurry, so I added the painted look in Paint Shop Pro.
