Otters Holding Hands
Too cute!
Water, water everywhere!
While the sight of rushing water was pleasing here, many areas of Texas were devastated by too much rainfall. Homes, vehicles and more importantly, lives were lost due to heavy flooding.
I continue to be amazed by the difference from the last two years to this one.

Another “This Makes Me Happy” post
Hay, beautiful, hay!
This time last year we were scrambling trying to decide whether to sell all or part of our herd. We were wondering if we could find hay and how much we would have to pay for it since we were in the midst of that darn drought. In hindsight, we’re very happy we didn’t sell although at the time, we were quite sure we had lost our minds considering the purchase price of hay and feed.
This year, we have not one, but two leased hay meadows we’ve never had before. Both are now baled and we’re simply waiting on the weather to clear to get the bales moved. We should get a second cutting since we’re having plenty of rainfall. This hay is half the cost of what we had to purchase last year and that includes the lease of the land and the cost of baling.
Right now, life is good!
Digital Capture
Ed and I were very happy this afternoon to spot this bird. It’s only the second time I’ve ever seen one and to actually get a photo of the male Painted Bunting made me very happy. It’s not the greatest quality, but I’m still excited to have it. Ed has some too and will get his posted soon.
Divine Intervention?
I think yes! A blessing in the midst of a tragedy…. go read.
My Favorite Spot on Earth…
…is wet tonight, dadgummit! We’ve been firing up the citronella torches and plugging in the bug zapper every night, but after 1.4 inches of rain this afternoon, my precious, favorite spot to enjoy the evening hours is too wet to plant my bottom. Oh well, tomorrow is another day!
The Other Half
A Letter
My Darling Computer,
I’m sorry, I’m just not as enamored with you in the summer as I am in the winter. I know, I’ve neglected you as well as my site, my creative endeavors and my very few blog readers.
I’m begging all of you… please accept my apology until it gets too hot to sit in my swing!
Sincerely,
DonnaB
Again with nothing…
I wish I had something new to share. I guess I could report we have about two-thirds of our hay baled, the cattle are fat and sassy and we have a bunch of baby calves. All in all, a very good first half of 2007. Let’s keep our fingers crossed the rest of this year can be described as good too.
